Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Greens at Hornsby Mall on International Women's Day

Our hard-working Greens were at Hornsby Mall on International Women's Day highlighting the issue of affordable housing.

Emma Heyde at Hornsby Mall

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Greens Convenor, Emma Heyde, said of Hornsby Shire Council, "It's notorious for its radical pro-development agenda and bullying in meetings. On this 106th International Women’s Day, I would like to highlight the contribution of the single female councillor on Hornsby.

Shire Council, Councillor Bernadette Azzizi.

Councillor Azzizi does not share her council responsibilities with fellow female councillors. In fact, there is no other council in Sydney with just one female councillor.

On this International Women’s Day, and on behalf of the 51% of women who live and work and raise their families in the Hornsby local government area, I applaud Councillor Azzizi for the work she has done in inspiring our young girls and women to stand for leadership positions.

I thank her for her example of leadership.

I acknowledge her efforts to speak out on issues that affect women.

And I thank her for being an example to us all of the hard work and commitment that it takes to be an effective local councillor.

Happy International Women’s Day to all, to all female council staff, to all women in the room, and in particular to Councillor Azzizi.
